Petra Kapš
Petra Kapš (a.k.a. OR poiesis), artist, composer and researcher in the fields of bio-, geo-, and hydro-acoustics, merges elemental life and secrets of the Earth with Arte Sonora, experimental music and visual-performative practices, emphasising the interconnectedness of the intimate fields within planetary and cosmic resonant mysteries. Her artistic devotions include developing deeply attentive modalities of listening and composing, and art works that engage with perception and notions of sacredness of all life forms. She is influenced by her space based practice, a passionate desire for silent territories, and explorations of ecstatic, chthonic and spherical sonic phenomena.

Two-month residency at Zvjezdane Staze as one of three Artists in Residence selected for the first edition of TEREN_SЛОЈЕVИ.
Concept
During the residency I will develop a sound work through daily walking rituals and technologically extended listening to trees, stones, and the river. Field recordings, instrument building, performative video, and embodied listening become methods for exploring the subtle vibrational communications of the landscape.
Attuning to mystical transmissions, the sonic mycelium of the environment's chemical-vibrational communication, creates elemental music of the space: the lithosphere, trees, river, minerals, and subtle beings. Signals and flow between bodies, roots, branches, summer flowers and fireflies, lichens and stones, shimmering lights and misty veils, the Earth's core and mountains thundering rhythms, waters and atmosphere.
The process brings together technologically extended listening, recording and creation of sonic fragments, performative video, psychoacoustics, geophony, local floral patterns, and Tree of Life mythologies. It explores how psychosomatic experience intertwines with the mythological and intimate narratives of trees and water bodies.
Trees, through their omnipresent yet spatially immobile embodiment, are sensing beings par excellence, hyper-sensual bodies through which the entire landscape flows, extending into the cosmos. Since prehistoric times, they have been experienced as oracles, as primordial shelters, as beings intimately close to humans, as the axis mundi, the Tree of Life. The autonomy and sovereignty of the mighty tree is only apparent. This is undoubtedly true of the human being as well. A tree is an infinitely inclusive constellation.
Extended listening, the vibrational field, and the transmission of signals reveal a tree's branches as antennas, its roots as conductive fibers. How can we hear the Tree?
