Tea Zvizdić
Tea Zvizdić is a multidisciplinary artist from Copenhagen, Denmark. Working across artistic fields, she sees her versatile curiosity as a strength, something that even characterises her practice and allows her to move freely between disciplines, while carrying experience from one into another. She embraces her love for multiple artforms while rejecting the idea of restriction. Through her visual arts practice, she explores her own world of shapes and characters, seeking to evoke emotion, recognition, and a sense of satisfaction in the viewer.
A full month in Mijakovići, developing her world of shapes in new canvas materials, layering them in collage, and working with textiles traditional to the area.
Concept
My work explores shapes as an endless field of possibilities. I work intuitively with both simple and abstract forms, focusing on composition, color, and balance. Every element is carefully considered, with the goal of creating harmony within the material, form, and texture.
During my time at the residency, I will continue developing my world of shapes, exploring different canvas materials, incorporating the use of a sewing machine and working with layering the materials in a collage-like approach to introduce an additional dimension. I’m planning to use textiles traditional to the area as well.
Practice
Street dance is a central part of her practice, working within both freestyle and choreography. She actively engages in the dance community she holds so dearly, attending weekly sessions, events and classes - participating in shared spaces for practice and exchange, continuing the tradition of street styles as a communal body.
Works
The works carry no titles, and are not meant to. Each one is given here as she describes it, by measure, material and thread.
